N189P DetailsThis plane flew from 1963 until 2002 with a Jacobs R755-9 that had been put on in 1963 after an oil pressure failure in the previous engine. That's 39 years with only one teardown after a prop strike and one top overhaul in 1985. It was retired with 980 hrs in 2002. During 2002 and into 2003 it got a little sprucing up with everything firewall forward overhauled, a beautiful Jacobs R-755 B from Radial Engines Ltd., overhauled prop and a new interior. I am hoping it will be good for another 39 years. |
