Seat Restraints

Anyone have the word on a seat restraints AD?  Got a call from an outfit called California Aero Marketing wanting to install the unit on my airplane - said its all paid for by Cessna but the offer expires on Friday of this week.

Appreciate any thoughts/advice.

Russ,  the first 2 sets, I got both seats for free, but I have not ordered any for quite a while, this was right after the bulletin came out, and with the copy of the log book entry, Cessna paid my supplier who credited me, labor and parts together for both seats!!  , not enough labor to actually do the job, but this is much better than any previous bulletins I have gotten and shows some effort in customer satisfaction!

I have it installed in my plane.  On field shop (cessna certified) did the mechanical, logbook and cost me nothing for the left seat.  weight is small and it works as designed.  Right seat was never free.

For Cessna to pay the money, they want to see the log book entry, other than I hate to see weight, complexity  and expense added to my plane for what I consider not necessary,(for a 195), if it should become an AD applicable to the 195, then we would all be glad to have it already.  At first, they paid for both front seats, now, maybe only the pilots??  Not sure there?

Kevin, I was fortunate enough to just pick one up.  And not have to install it.  That way if it becomes a AD I will have it.

Stand corrected.  Just a service letter.

Spoke to the shop and Cessna has again granted an extension beyond this Friday.

Any compelling reason not to have it installed?  Given that Cessna is paying for it?

Not an AD Note at this time.

From what I have seen, it is not an AD, just a service bulletin, I have not heard any rumors as to it becoming an AD, did I miss it?   this was tried in the past, when those red seat track blocks came out and it never became an AD, this one might, but the feds are real busy?  hard to say.    Other cessnas have a lot more travel so as to get out the door ahead of the seat, our plane is generally flown with the seat most all the way aft already, so a slip to full travel is not such a threat.  If they issue a NPRM, we can tell the feds that, and maybe get excluded?
