Come join the International Cessna 195 Club September 24th-27th for the 2009 Convention and Fly-in to be held at the Dauster Flying Field (1H0) airnav.com/airport/1H0 in Creve Coeur, MO. The folks at Creve Coeur are old hands at hosting type clubs, and have over 80 vintage aircraft based there including their flying museum.

The Sheraton Westport Chalet & Convention Center is only minutes away, and is located on a campus of establishments that include restaurants, shops and night clubs, all within a short stroll from the Chalet. They've blocked a group of rooms for us, and even created an online reservation web page that will assure that you get our special rate for rooms...

The folks at the Chalet provide regular shuttle service (every 30 minutes, and it's just 10 minutes away) to St. Louis' Lambert field, for those arriving by scheduled carrier. The St. Louis MetroLink metrostlouis.org/# also stops at Lambert, so the hotel shuttle makes a convenient way to access the rest of the city by jumping on the MetroLink to get to Union Station, Laclede's Landing lacledeslanding.com/, the Gateway Arch gatewayarch.com/Arch/, Anheuser Busch Brewery budweisertours.com/tours.htm , to name but a few. All without the need for a rental car. There are also several casinos within minutes of Creve Coeur and they will come and get you at the Chalet (they didn't say whether they'd bring you back or not...)

Thursday is the official arrival day but there's plenty to do if you want to arrive early (we'll be there!). There'll be registration and refreshments at the airport, a hospitality room at the Chalet, and no-host dining on Thursday and Friday evenings. We're tentatively planning a riverboat dinner cruise on the Mississippi River for Friday evening, gatewayarch.com/Arch/info/act.riverboat.aspx so stay tuned for details. Saturday we'll have a fly-out maintenance seminar at Barron Aviation in Perry, Mo. airnav.com/airport/MO11, 65nm northwest of Creve Coeur. John Barron and Bill Milton are collaborating, and we'll have a place on the registration form for everyone to indicate if they think they'll have seats available or require a seat with someone else. The annual banquet will be held Saturday evening at the Chalet, followed Sunday morning by a breakfast buffet and annual business meeting.

Obviously, some plans are still in the making and as more details are available we'll update this information. We plan to be able to provide online registration and payment capabilities for those that are able, and that, coupled with the Chalet's webpage for room reservations, should allow us to complete everything on-line (but we'd be glad to accept checks by mail, too!)

We hope that with all that there is to do in and around St. Louis, and all of the hangars full of rare vintage airplanes at Creve Coeur, and the convenient transportation possibilities, that everyone will have a good time. Some of us would be content to sit around the airport and "hangar fly", but others look for attractions, dining and shopping. The Schwabs and Hartwigs have conducted some recon missions to the area, and every time we go there, we find ourselves planning our next trip because there's always more to see and do. Janet and Sue are planning a shopping trip to historic St. Charles, MO, also just minutes away.

So, mark your calendars, browse the links, stay tuned for further developments, and make plans to be in Creve Coeur in September.
