The Dayton Fly-In was very good. We had about 100 people and 29 Cessna 195s. That is the most 195s we have had in a number of years. We also had a number of new and younger members attend as well as a number of 195s fresh out of restoration. The gathering reflected what we have been seeing in the club roster; a shift in membership from the old hands to the new hands.

The newly restored and painted airplanes were beautiful to behold. The owners have lavished great care upon their mounts. The weather was great.

The day spent at the Wright Patterson Museum was excellent. We even found a LC-126 hanging from the overhead (The same one that is on the magazine cover in one of the articles posted on our web site). It was the most photographed airplane in the exhibit.

We had a thunderstorm on Friday night and all the airplanes that did not have a inter-cowl cover had their distributors soaked. There was a lot of distributor drying going on Saturday after an excellent maintenance meeting as well as a vow from these owners to buy and use the inter-cowl cover in the future. The fly out to Clermont to visit Sporty's Pilot supply company went very well and was enjoyed by all. The banquet was a quiet and laid back affair and the membership breakfast meeting on departure day Sunday was well attended.

We voted on the Board of Directors recommendation to have the 2004 Fly-In at Midland Texas in conjunction with the CAF AIRSHO. It passed unanimously.

The California contingent had excellent weather both coming and going. The Florida bunch had horrible weather and the stalwarts were forced to drive for the fist time in memory. Those coming from the north and east had weather challenges and significant winds aloft with which to contend.

Everybody I talked to had a wonderful time.We thanked Jack and Karen Jackowski for a memorable fly-in and for the warm environment they provided to the attendees. People make the event and in Dayton the people were just great.
